先日、mokumoku studio課外授業ということで、東京都美術館へお出かけをしきた。「The UKIYO-E 2020」というタイトルの展覧会が行われており、日時指定入場制と今までとは違った形式での鑑賞となった。 https://www.tobikan.jp/exhibition/2020_ukiyoe.html 450点が展示されているということで、期待以上のボリュームがあり最後にはヨレヨレになるのだが、最初から最後まであまりのセンスの良さにドキドキしながら鑑賞させて頂いた。（想定以上の長時間滞在で冷房にも苦しんだ。夏の美術館や映画館は上着を持っていかなければいけない人だった私は。） 描き方や捉え方の「型」はしっかりあるものの、時代や文化の移り変わりとともに、少しづつ雰囲気も変化していく。数々の巨匠の作品が展示されているのだか、やはり歌麿。喜多川歌麿にはかないません。 あの線よ。線の色っぽさよ。線に夢中になっていたら途中から線を描かず線を見せるセクシーさよ。そして美人画に代表されるあの肉感。こぼれ落ちそうな肌は透明感に満ちていました。 mokumoku studio visited Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum a few days ago. The exhibition we went for is titled "The UKIYO-E 2020", which is Japanese famous woodblock print.　 https://www.tobikan.jp/exhibition/2020_ukiyoe.html Oh my I was so tired after appreciating more than 450 pieces, which was much more than our expectation. But it was very exciting from the beginning to the end because those masters' visual sense of use of colors and lines are so sophisticated and ahead of its time even now. There is a certain fixed style though that most of the paintings seem to follow in terms of how the lines of kimono flow and how the human faces are similarly expressed, which reminds me of Japanese manga and that it was very much influenced by Ukiyoe. So many beautiful pieces are up but Utamaro was the best in my opinion, Everything he made was so sexy. So sexy because in some of his late work he intentionally didn't draw lines to express lines and the volume. あまり遠くない昨日　(English follows) . あまり遠くない昨日　(English follows) . 広島でずっと前に原爆が落ちたところで、人を集めたアートイベントをしたことがある。 朝も早かったのに、600枚くらい用意した記念うちわが無くなった。それでもぞろぞろ人が集まる。 . 600人が集まったところを頭の中で想像しろといったら難しい。じゃあ原爆で死んだ20万人はどうだろう。600人とどう違うのか。じゃあその戦争で死んだ5000万人はどうだろう。想像できる人はおそらくいない。 . あと、たった1人でもそれが身近な人だったらどうか。 . 誰も想像できないことを祈る今日。 . Yesterday is not so far away . I've organized an art event at a place very close to the hypocenter of the a-bombing in Hiroshima. . Although it was early in the morning of a weekday, 600 memorial paper fans we'd prepared to give out to the participants were gone. A lot of people showed up really. . It is hard to picture a place with 600 people gathering around. How about 200,000 fatalities from the atomic bombing. How is it different from 600 people. How about 50 millions who died due to the war. Nobody can imagine, probably. . And, even more unimaginable if one of them is who I love. . mokumokuのマンガが米国の由緒あるメデ mokumokuのマンガが米国の由緒あるメディアで紹介されました！ㅤ ㅤ The Comics Journal掲載のRyan Holmberg @mangaberg さんが執筆されたMore Corona Cartoons, Japanに紹介して頂きました！ㅤ ㅤ http://www.tcj.com/more-corona-cartoons-japan/ㅤ ㅤ Ryanさんとはmokumoku studioが#こんコロシリーズを連載していた時にInstagramで知り合いました。Ryanさんはマンガなどのアート歴史学者であり、翻訳家でいらっしゃる方で、こんコロにも出演して頂きました。コロナウイルス感染拡大をテーマにしたマンガのリサーチをされており、この度The Comics Journalにエッセイを掲載され、mokumoku studioの作品も紹介して頂いております！ㅤ ㅤ Ryanさんと出会ったのは今より状況が不明確で家に完全に缶詰状態であった4月でした。世の中が音を立てて変化する中で、戸惑いながらもアートで未曾有な状況を表現しなくてはという思いで#こんコロを始めました。世界がどんどん狭くなっているような感覚がしていたと同時に、Ryanさんとのつながりは世界の広がりをもたらしてくれたような気がします。ㅤ ㅤ mokumoku studio's manga was introduced in the historical media in the US!!ㅤ ㅤ mokumoku studio is mentioned in Ryan Holmberg's essay "More Corona Cartoons, Japan" at The Comics Journal! ㅤ ㅤ We met Ryan on Instagram when we were daily posting the corona manga series #concoro. He is a manga and art historian and a translator. He kindly shared his story for us to make one episode in concoro. He has been researching comics influenced by the coronavirus outbreak and mentioned about mokumoku's work in his essay which is now online at The Comics Journal. ㅤ ㅤ We got connected to Ryan last April, when things were more uncertain than now and a lot of us were stuck at home. As the world was changing dramatically, we started the corona manga series with the urge to do something with art in this unprecedented time. The world seemed to be getting smaller and smaller at that time but meeting Ryan brought us a wider perspective and larger possibility.
